Republicans are trying to push through Big Oil Immunity before the new congress. Big Oil Immunity would preempt initiatives at the state level and local level to make polluters pay for climate damages.
Big Oil has known for decades that their business model would result in more floods, more fires, and more communities torn apart as a result of climate disasters. To protect their profits, they lied to the public and prevented us from implementing solutions to the crisis they created.
Across the country, communities are demanding that polluters pay for the damage they're causing. More than 1 in 4 people in the US live in a state or community taking Big Oil to court to hold them accountable. At the same time, a growing number of states are passing or considering Climate Superfund laws to make polluters pay for climate damages.
Big Oil is scared. They're turning to its allies in DC to secure a get-out-of-jail-free card that would allow them to escape accountability. To stop them, we need to show a tidal wave of opposition to Big Oil Immunity.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib has introduced a bill that would ban the construction of new data centers on public lands. Trump’s Department of Energy is pushing for data center development on public lands and has identified 16 sites for potential development. Trump’s Bureau of Land Management approved a data center buildout on public lands in Nevada. Tlaib’s bill protects public lands from unnecessary polluting data centers.
Big Tech is Big Oil’s number one accomplice. The massive buildout of AI data centers is creating demand for new fossil fuel infrastructure that is worsening the climate crisis.
